It's Dark in Here

A woman takes a lover home during the day while her husband is at work.

Her 9-year old son comes home unexpectedly, sees them and hides in the bedroom closet to watch.

The woman's husband also comes home. She puts her lover in the closet, not realizing that the little boy is in there already.

The little boy says, ' Dark in here.'

The man says, 'Yes, it is.'

Boy: 'I have a baseball..'

Man: 'That's nice'

Boy: 'Want to buy it?'

Man: 'No, thanks.'

Boy: 'My Dad's outside.'
Man: 'OK, how much?'

Boy: '$250'

In the next few weeks, it happens again that the boy and the lover are in the closet together.

Boy: 'Dark in here.'

Man: 'Yes, it is.'

Boy: 'I have a baseball glove.'

The lover, remembering the last time, asks the boy, 'How much?'

Boy: '$750'

Man: 'Sold.'

A few days later, the Dad says to the boy, 'Grab your glove, let's go outside and have a game of catch.'

The boy says, 'I can't, I sold my baseball and my glove.'

The Dad asks, 'How much did you sell them for?'

Boy: '$1,000'

The Dad says, 'That's terrible to over charge your friends like that...that is way more than those two things cost. I'm taking you to church, to confession.'

They go to the church and the Dad makes the little boy sit in the confessional booth and closes the door...

The boy says, 'Dark in here.'
The priest says, 'Don't start that shit again; you're in my closet now.'

The land of the Free & the Brave

Tomorrow, November 22 is the date in history that will be in my mind for ever. The year was 1963 and the President of the United States of America was assassinated, and many of you will remember were you were.
Its forty-seven years later and I am still moved by its memory, I was thirteen and just beginning high school. Who would do such a thing?
The pundits have expressed their options, bottom line JFK is still dead.

...et la Première étoile est

The city and the country lost a great man this week. Pat Burns former Habs coach and a true gentleman. He also coached the Leafs and won a Stanley Cup with…the New Jersey Devils.
Tonight before the game there was a fitting tribute to his achievements. Silence filled the Bell Centre and a capacity crowd fell quiet.
Mr. Burns was fifty-eight and succumbed to lung cancer.
Now the NHL has to their senses and put Pat where he belongs in The Hockey Hall of Fame, now it’s our turn to rally up

What to Say

I was watching Jay Leno and Garth Brooks was the guest. He was promoting a movie and one of his previous hits Unanswered Prayers.
My thought in fact is that in fact God answers EVERY prayer, just sometimes he says no.

Stay Where You Is

One winter morning a husband and wife in Cornerbrook were listening to the
radio during breakfast. They heard the announcer say, "We are going to have 8 to 10 inches of snow today.. You must park your car on the even-numbered side of the street, so the snowplows can get
through." So the good wife went out and moved her car.

A week later while they are eating breakfast again, the radio announcer said,"We are expecting 10 to 12 inches of snow today. You must park your car on the odd-numbered side of the street, so the snowplows can get through." The good wife went out and moved her car again.

The next week they are again having breakfast, when the radio announcer says,"We are expecting 12 to 14 inches of snow today. You must park....." Then the electric power went out. The good wife was very upset, and with a worried look on her face she said, "Honey, I don't know what to do. Which side of the street do I need to park on so the snowplows can get through?"

With the love and understanding in his voice, that all men who are married to
good Newfoundland women exhibit, the husband replied, "Why don't you just leave it in the garage this time?"

I'm Stuffed

Tonight was fantastic a home cooked meal was served. On Wednesday last, while chatting to Rolanda on MSN Messenger, I was invited for Sheppard’s Pie a la Murphy/MacPhee.
Not outta the box Sheppard’s Pie, but home made real home made pie.
Gord worked his fingers to the bone, chopping, slicing, frying, and baking… wow !
We started the meal by saying grace the honour of which was bestowed to me.
Then my plate arrived, perfect Sheppard’s Pie. Then helping # 2 was my pleasure, followed by fresh strawberry cheese cake.
Rolanda was right behind Gord making sure all was perfect.
It doesn’t get better then this…OH YES IT DOES, a double container of Sheppard’s Pie to take home, ah supper for two days.
Thanks Ro & Gord

In Flander's Field

In Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch, be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul. With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful.

Strive to be happy.

I was somewhat surprised today. I set my clocks (and watch) back one hour last night. My cell phone and even my VHS recorded did it them themselves, yet my GPS remained at DST, that’s kinnda weird given that these devices are guided by satellites, strange huh?

A Rose by any other Name

Over the past week end Celine and Rene had twins, first congrats to them.
For the next several days the earth shattering nail biting conundrum left me sleepless for some time, what would the name they kiddies.

Then it was announced the guys would be called Eddy & Nelson. Eddy after a formor manager of Celine and Nelson after Nelson Mandela.

Now on the surface this seams rather innocuous But being a rather clever fellow it occurred to me that the names Reversed become Nelson Eddy, famed American actor who sang with Jeanette MacDonald. His usual character was a Canadian Mountie.

One time many summers removed, Celine refused an award as most promising Canadian artist, stating she was Quebecois.

Oh, the irony
