I Played my Best for Him

Christmas carols come & go.
Although not a carol my favorite Christmas song is The Little Drummer Boy.
He had no gifts for the King but he had a gift, the gift from his heart and that was the gift of music, and as the words go “I Played My Best for Him.”.... And He smiled at me.
How joyful if in life if all we need do is play our best

I Hate it when this Happens

Grrrrrr for the last two days I can’t get the song outta my head.
Is it the Halleluiah chorus from Handle’s Messiah….no !
Perhaps Leaving on a Jet plane from Peter, Paul & Mary ….I only wish.
Stuck in my mind is TELUS’s commercial song “ I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”
Day & night the tune haunts me.
I wake up with it on my mind & find myself singing it all-day (to myself, thank goodness)

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
Only a hippopotamus will do
No crocodiles, no rhinoceroses
I only like….. hippopotamuses
And hippopotamuses like me too

And There Were in the same Country...

It is about one week before Christmas. Soon the stores will be closed and shuttered; the streets will be dark and bare.
The season for the most part will be at its climax and the happiness of the times will thrill the children’s heart, with crumpled wrapping paper covering the floor.
As older folk we reflect on Christmases past, some extremely happy, some sad, in remembrance of those who physically are not here.
May I wish you the best the season can I offer, may you discover the joy of youth and the knowledge of the past.
God bless all who read this

But Why

It was twenty years ago today that Montreal recorded one of its darkest events,
Twenty years ago a gunman shot and killed fourteen young female students at the Polytechnique de Montreal.
It was the last day of school on a day much like this, dull & over cast Little did the students know that not only was it the last day of school but their last day of life.
