666 Woodland Ave.

Tonight I attended a wine and cheese party for the 50th anniversary for Dawson Boys Club. I met friends I haven’t seen for years, man some of them got old.
All in all it was fun to see people I haven’t seen in years.
Tomorrow night is the dance.

On a Jet Plane

Tonight I was “Youtube ing” and came across some Peter Paul and Mary videos.
P.P. & M was the first concert I ever saw in my life maybe back in the early to mid sixties. It was so early that like TV the concert may have been in black & white……heheheee
If memory serves me the ticket was under ten dollars and at Place des Arts, (the Salle Wilfred Pelletier) I went by myself I didn’t care, I was a rebel and knew AND understood every lyric of every song. At the intermission I had a cola and a plain end Gitano cigarette (that’s ok there was no cancer back then)
I don’t remember the Metro from back then so I guess I took the #15 bus back to Atwater (when Ste Catherine was a two way street) and the 107 to Beatty and Verdun Ave, across the street from the House of Tom then walked back to 411.
I had all of their albums to the chagrin of Ellie & Eric (mom & dad) and David (brother) who on more then one occasion hid them from me so I could not play them on the blue Fleetwood stereo ( the one with the detachable wing speakers) which was in the room we shared on the second floor of a triplex on Osborne Ave in Verdun. We lived above the Reece family and below the Nadeau sisters.
I don’t believe Peter, Paul & Mary concert any more, but if they do Ill be there
There was another group about that time I think they were called The Beatles, I wonder what ever happened to them?
Gentle readers Peter, Paul and Mary

Earl Jones

Dear Earl Jones (note the absence of the word Mister (Mr.,) a sign of respect.

I believe you to be a lepar and a pimple on the backside of society.
You may not be proven guilty of the charges against you, but I know in your heart you know what you have done, you stole the life savings of people who trusted you (including your family) People who had confidence that you would take care of their affairs, present and future. It is my belief that you stole monies from a friend of mine (Linda) and likely her son(Walter John) When I worked with her years ago she used to say “I have no worries, Earl will take care of things.”
You will be tried by a jury of your peers, but await a judgment which you may have not considered.
If indeed you are not guilty as perceived, then it behooves you to come forward.
I doubt immensely if you read my blog, but perhaps some one who reads it can pass this on to you

Zzzzzzzzzip !!

An attractive young woman was waiting at a crowded city bus stop. She was decked out in a rather tight skirt with matching boots and jacket.

As the bus rolled up, and it became her turn to get on, she realized that her skirt was too tight to allow her to make the first step on the bus.

So, slightly embarrassed, she reached behind her and unzipped her skirt a little thinking that this would give her enough slack to get her leg up to the first step. Again she tried but the skirt was still too tight.

Even more embarrassed, she once again reached behind her and unzipped her skirt a little more. For a second time she attempted the step, and once again just couldn't get her foot that high.

It was just as she was reaching behind her a third time that this big Texan right behind her picked her up from the waist and placed her lightly on the step.

Well, she was not happy to be man-handled and turned on the would-be hero, "You have no right to touch me, mister! I don't even know you!"

At this the Texan drawled: "Well ma'am, normally I would agree with you but after you unzipped my pants three times, I kind a figured that we was friends."

One for July

When he forgot his wedding anniversary, a husband was in very big trouble. There were some heated words and ice cold silence.

Before retiring for the night, his wife broke the silence and firmly told him "Tomorrow you better have something in the driveway for me that goes from zero to 200 in 2 seconds flat".

When the wife looked outside the next morning, she found a small package in the driveway. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.

Funeral arrangements for the husband have been set for this Saturday

The Taking of Pelham.....Yawn

Tonight I saw a theatre presentation of The Taking of Pelham 123. This was the first time I’ve been to the cinema since I saw George of the Jungle with Dave and Rolanda, low so many years ago.
The movie presented itself as a thriller, ho hum, the 1974 movie was far superior in all aspects. Ninety minutes plus of my life Hollywood owes me.

Thanks Len

It was back to the Jazz Fest today, just me & my camera.
There were no shows going on but there were hundreds of people milling around and enjoying the ambiance. Mostly families.
I chanced upon a group Fiesta Cubano who are closing the fest tonight doing a sound check. Magic ! There were at least fifteen on stage which leads me to believe the group is much bigger. I was fascinated by the stand-up bass and the fiddles. There are a few more pics on my Facebook.
I dedicate this entry to Len Dobbins a Jazz officiannto and former radio announcer who passed away earlier this week. He was in his seventies and was last seen at his favorite watering hole, the balance of the Montreal International Jazz Festival was dedicated to his memory.
Only eleven months and a bit till next years happening.

Too Much Time on my Hands?

This is kinnda neat. Today at twenty-six minutes and five seconds before one a strange thing will happen. You probably won’t read about it in Le Devoir or The New York Times but at the time the time times will be sequential.
12:34:56(the time) 7(the month) 8 (the day) 9 (the year).
Hence 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

A Jazzy Time was had by All

Last night I got off to the Montreal International Jazz Festival. I left the apartment around seven PM & parked at the Angrignon metro station and took the train (using my new Opus card) the twelve stop ride (actually eleven stops, Charlevoix was closed) to the site at Place des Arts. I eventually met up with my friends Krystal, Casmir, Arturo, and Angelo. M.I.A. were Tina, Nat, and Liam. We walked around the site enjoying the people watching and the jazz.
The site is amazing, there were thousands of people and plenty of beer, bars, and booze, but I didn’t see one drunk.
This event is now officially an Astral alumni happening.
There are some photos on my Facebook page, so feel invited to have a look.
I have a feeling I’ll be back before the Fest ends on July 12th

Wavin the Flag

I AM CANADIAN

I was born in the fifties, yet I am somehow responsible for
some First Nations people being screwed out of their land in the
1700's.

I pay import tax on cars made in Ontario.

I am allowed to skydive and smoke, but not allowed to drive
without a seat belt.

All the money I make until mid July must go to paying taxes.

I live and work among people who believe Americans are
ignorant.... These same people cannot name this country's new
territory. ........On April 1st, 1999, the map of Canada changed for the first
time in 50 years with the creation of Nunavut Territory.
The Northwest Territories was split and approximately 2 million
square kilometres of the central and eastern arctic became 'Nunavut'.

Although I am sometimes forced to live on hamburgers and don't
have a pot to piss in, I sleep well knowing that my taxes
helped purchase a nice six figure home in Vancouver for some unskilled refugee.

Although they are unpatriotic and constantly try to separate...
Quebec still provides most of my nation's prime ministers.

95% of my nation's international conflicts are over fish.

I'm supposed to call black people African Canadians, although
I'm sure none of them have ever been to Africa.

I am being told that paying a 200% tax on alcohol is fair.
I am also being told that the same tax on gasoline is also
fair.

Even if I have no idea what happened to that old rifle my
Grandfather gave me when I was 14, I will be considered a
criminal if I don't register it.

I am being told that spending $15 billion to promote the French
language in the rest of Canada is fair when the province of Quebec
doesn't support or recognize the English language.

I am being told that paying $1million for 3 Stripes ("The
Voice of Fire painting in Ottawa) by the National Art Gallery was a good purchase, even though 99% of this country didn't want it or will ever see it.

When I look at my pension and realize that I take home a third
of what I actually make, I say "Oh well, at least we have better health care than the Americans."

I must bail out farmers when their crops are too wet or too dry
because I control the rain.

I must bail out big corporations who drive their business into
The ground and say yeah that's ok when they move all there
manufacturing plants and jobs to a third world country and say no problem.

My National Anthem has versions in both official languages.
Canada is the highest taxed nation in North America, the
biggest military buffer for the United States, and the number one
destination for fleeing terrorists.

I am not an angry white male. I am an angry taxpayer who is
broke.

I am Canadian !!!
